Natural Language Processing and RPA

This term RPA or Robotic Process Automation is so popular nowadays in Information Technology trends and has gained so much attention in a way to automate certain repetitive tasks, by making it feel like human work. Since the invention of this term RPA or Robotic Process Automation, it is getting known on the basis of performing certain simple tasks like screen scraping and desktop automation. From this stage, the RPA becomes smart and intelligent enough to perform tasks in a more cognitive way. Even the research shows that the overall spending on RPA will be increased to approximately $2.4B by the coming years.

All about RPA

The full form of this term RPA is Robotic Process Automation. It stands for automating certain repetitive tasks like data processing and routing using Artificial Intelligence, by letting the human workers focus on and perform the higher-value tasks, and thus it reduces labor costs for a company by increasing the profitability. This RPA automates the tasks for the enterprises in two ways: one is by unattended automation which can be done without any human touch, and the other is the attended automation where a human touch is needed to get to know which input should be taken care of. RPA is getting popularized in almost every sector of businesses across the world, starting from retailing, banking, insurance offices, government entities, to the HR team purposes for recruitment and repetitive works.

The rise of cognitive RPA would never be possible without implementing AI or Artificial Intelligence technologies. Both machine learning or ML and natural language processing or NLP are the main backbones of this new and arriving cognitive RPA, or you can also say intelligent automation. The machine learning or the ML helps the RPA to process the unstructured datasets. It helps the RPA to identify the specific data across various input datasets by continuously learning the place where to find these required specific datasets. For example, you can take the invoice booking process, if particular booking details are required to make certain changes the RPA finds out the specific booking details using this ML technology to help the customers.

Another technology behind this RPA is natural language processing or the NLP. The RPA is getting used in so many places only for this Natural Language Processing technology. This NLP technology makes the bots be able for composing emails, recording the insurance claims, updating customer data sets, resume screening, and even for sorting the whole selection for recruiting purposes.

NLP integration in RPA

NLP or natural language processing is a branch of computer technology. It actually smoothens the connection between human and machine by teaching the machines to understand natural human language both verbally and written. Don’t you think that why NLP, while using ML it is able to identify the datasets and make changes to it or perform some work on it? Then come to the main point.

There are various notes, or the written requests and the call transcripts which can be a rich source of data and pieces of information. A machine will not be able to perform tasks basis on this human language if the machine is unable to understand this. Even it can not help to automate repetitive tasks by identifying the specific data sets and also it will not be able to locate the particular data set where the tasks should be performed. The NLP is the only technology that makes the RPA able to extract the right information from the human-like text and handwritten scripts for further processing. By using this NLP technology the RPA is getting used in a large number of business sectors and corporations. The integration of the NLP is actually providing a human touch to the machine for giving a better user experience. Using this NLP in the RPA, the bots are able to ask a customer as “Hello! I am your assistant. How can I help you?” and answer the customers on the basis of their questions instantly and accordingly. With the augmentation of this AI and NLP, the RPA technology is serving a significantly important role to make the organization more digitally driven.

Now almost every sector is getting digitized and digitally driven. This digital transformation is having strategic importance to every kind of business, and the RPA is the most important part of this transformation which actually helps the organization to be more digitized and digitally driven. Also, this RPA technology is getting applied in many sectors to provide opportunities to perform certain repetitive tasks in a better, quicker and cheaper way to increase the company’s profitability by reducing its labor costs. And this NLP and ML both are the most important technologies getting used in every company and corporate. Using these AI technologies to the RPA it is getting smart and intelligent and being updated as Cognitive RPA and helps the corporates by addressing more intelligent automation to perform tasks and giving a better experience for the customers.
